    The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission conducts a judicial examination for the post of Civil Judge (Junior Division) under the provisions under the Tamil Nadu State Judicial Service (Cadre and Recruitment Rules), 2007.

    Age

    For Practicing Advocates/Pleaders and Assistant Public Prosecutors minimum age is 25 years, and the maximum is 35 years. In the case of the reserved category, the age must not cross 40 years. For fresh Law Graduates of all categories, the minimum age is 22 years and must not exceed 27 years.

    Educational Qualification.

    For Practicing Advocates, a degree in law from a recognized university and enrolment in the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu or any other Bar Council in India.

    Candidate must have so practiced for a period of not less than three years on such date.

    A degree from a recognized university is necessary for fresh Law graduates, and they must also be eligible to enrol as an advocate.

    50% marks in Bachelor’s degree for non-reserved categories is needed. For others, it is 45%.

    Must have obtained the Bachelor’s Degree of Law within three years before the date of notification.

    What is the eligibility for appearing in Tamil Nadu Judicial Services Examination?

    Candidate must possess adequate knowledge to read, write and speak in English and Tamil.
    Applicants who do not possess adequate knowledge in Tamil may apply. If selected, they must pass the Second-Class Language Test in Tamil within the period of probation.

    There are three stages to the exam. These are Prelims, Mains, and Interview.

    It is a 3 hours exam of 100 marks. 40 are minimum passing marks for a category other than reserved. For reserved categories, it is 30 and 35.
    There is a negative marking of 0.25 for every incorrect answer.
