Company secretaries are employed across the public, private and the not-for-profit sectors. Most commonly within local/national government, charities, housing associations, financial institutions and law firms.
CS Foundation is the preliminary and entrant level examination among many other routes to the Company Secretaryship course. Obtaining 40% marks in each paper and 50% marks in the aggregate of all the subjects is necessary for clearing the examination. The exam is conducted twice every year and candidates are requested to register with the ICSI on or before 31st March/ 30th September to appear for the examination in the months of December and June respectively.
Once a candidate clears the CS Foundation examination, he/she progresses to the next stage called the Executive programme.
CS Executive is the second stage of the Company Secretaryship course for those who have successfully cleared their Foundation exam. Executive examinations are held twice in a year in the months of June and December.
Candidates are advised to register with the ICSI on or before 9 months before the day of examination. i.e in February / August of the year for December and August exams respectively. Scoring 40% marks in each paper and 50% marks in the aggregate of all the papers in each of the groups is necessary for clearing the Executive examination.
By clearing the Executive examinations, the incumbent progresses to the next and final stage called Professional. The Professional examination is a test of the advanced level knowledge and practice.
